What is Peter's House?

Quality affordable housing in Mississauga, easily accessible to nature, that people with autism can call

Peter’s House is a housing development that provides autistic adults with a long-term living solution, while allowing their families to arrange customized support for their highly individual needs.

Finally, a place that individuals with disabilities can “end up” - whilst still benefiting from the support and care of their loved ones.

Individualized Care Matters

Good housing models that provide quality supports, community integration, and trained staff are essential to enhancing the quality of life for residents and their families.

Within this framework, and what’s currently lacking and unavailable today, is a full-time and long-term housing solution where an autistic family member can affordably live - along with the individually selected and hired support workers that are a fit for their unique needs.

That is what Peter’s House provides: A rental housing space conducive to the flexibility that is required to best match the needs of the resident and their supporting family and friends.

The mission is to offer a real home for autistic adults, whereby their individual needs can be honoured and supported by their family and friends.

Empowering the families of autistic adults to make the decisions necessary as it relates to their autistic family member - all the while providing a stable and safe housing rental property that they can afford and rely on.

The aim is to enrich lives, create independence and lighten burdens by providing long-term housing suited to their needs.

Peter’s House will be built considering a holistic set of project specific requirements to further promote the health and happiness of the residents (& community).

This includes:

  • Common areas offering a snoezelen (sensory) room, health & exercise facility, and programming space (including for income-generation tasks)
  • Optimal acoustics and “healing hues” (paint colour and lighting solutions scientifically shown to promote wellbeing)
  • Community garden (for both residents and locals)

For every unit of Best Ever ME sold, $2 goes into the building and development of Peter's House.
