CBD Tips & Tricks for the High-Performance Female Professional

There’s so much confusion around CBD these days - including the questionable hype of if it’s really all it’s supposed to be. It is truly the cure-all for everything?

Nope.

Does it have the cure-all potential for just about anything?

Kind of.

The more research and science that emerges to support the seemingly far-fetched claims of CBD all boils down to a single core truth; which is that is acts - just like adaptogens - on our internal systems (most notably our endocrine systems, and thus affecting our hormones) to restore balance.

Do you need CBD to get back “into balance”? Nope. Resetting your hormones through diet & self-care (like we do in the upcoming Stress-Less Program) is totally possible - but the addition of herbs, whether they be adaptogens like reishi or CBD derived from hemp, can be a helpful jumpstart point.

I recently interviewed Nadya, the Founder of a CBD oil company I’ve been following for a while, ICARIA, who built the brand on the premise of the fundamentals to mastering health & happiness from a woman’s perspective. Empowerment, ambition, and ease. CBD oil can definitely assist with all 3 things.

“My favourite time is to take it right before I start working, that way I stay focused, calm, motivated and I don’t feel as tired after I am done with work.”

Nadya takes CBD oil for anxiety and stress, stating that she personally finds CBD oil to be very powerful - yet subtle at the same time. For her, the best way to fully appreciate its effects is to take a minute or two to hold CBD oil under the tongue, take a few deep breaths and re-centre herself.

“I try to keep awareness on my body for as long as I can so that I can feel it working and my mind calming down.”

Wait...but can you still have coffee?

Many female entrepreneurs and professionals I know swear by their morning and/or mid-day caffeine ritual, and while I don’t recommend it if you’re suffering from burn-out (and it’s not allowed during the Stress-Less Program), blending coffee with CBD (or other adaptogens - I like schisandra berry for a cognitive lift!) can help reduce the classic “gitters” you may otherwise get from drinking it.

“I love having my morning coffee after taking CBD oil. Coffee usually gives me a bit of an anxious feeling and the jitters, but I find with CBD oil it only gives me more energy and further enhances the feeling of excitement about my day.”

Of course, there are many times you may choose to take CBD, and Nadya advises that it really depends on what you are taking it for. For instance, if you are taking it to deal with an acute issue like stress, pain or anxiety, then take it right there and then - preferably in the anticipation of it, since CBD works even better as a preventative measure. However, if you’re taking it for general balance or sleep, then take it in the morning and in the evening.

“My favourite time is to take it right before I start working, that way I stay focused, calm, motivated and I don’t feel as tired after I am done with work.”

As I’ve mentioned before, there’s never one single (or any) “quick-fix” for everything - or anything! If you’re a boss-babe facing a lifestyle that tends to get a little (or a LOTTA) intense, investing in additional strategies like practicing self-care, taking deep belly breaths throughout the day, and supplementing with adaptogens & CBD may very well be the answer to your stressed-out calls!

And on that note, I’ll leave you with Nadya’s favourite adaptogen of choice…a medicinal ‘shroom!

“I’ve been a fan of adaptogens the minute I’ve heard about them years ago. I am a huge mushroom fan, chaga mushroom being my favourite. I take it as a tincture, I make tea with it and I am planning on incorporating it into my food in the future. I feel like mushrooms are underestimated in our society at the moment, however they have wisdom of millions of years and they are omnipresent. When I include mushrooms into my supplement routine I just feel more grounded, connected and balanced.”
