Sweating is healthy, but sweating the right way can mean less stress, better sleep - and might even replace your physiotherapy (seriously).

You’re likely already familiar with saunas…but now it’s time I introduce you to the next-level sweat.

The key is in the rays: far infrared rays, to be exact.

Far infrared rays are invisible waves of energy that can penetrate deep into tissue, joints and muscle, warming your body from the inside out. This penetration enables the detoxification of cells at a deeper level and a lower heat than traditional sauna.

I recently treated myself to a little self-care experience at Dew Sweat over in the East end of Toronto, and was absolutely delighted at the entire experience - from the gorgeous aesthetic of the space, the enjoyable heated sesh, and then the refreshing tea + fresh oranges I was offered to wrap it all up!

I won’t lie to you - I walked in there a bit frazzled after a morning filled with some intense meetings and a less than perfect TTC commute over.

After 55 minutes of sweating it out from the inner depths of my core (seriously - and this is from someone who does NAWT sweat…) - I felt this blissful rush of energy, yet calm. If I may relate it to an adaptogen (because it would be rude not to), it’s actually a similar experience to taking Schisandra Berry, which has an unusual dual effect on the nervous system - it’s a mild central nervous system stimulant that enhances mental activity, and at the same time, it is calming and helps relieve anxiety.

A deep infrared sweat gave me that same nourishing “boost” whilst also feeling extremely meditative.
